Perhaps the greatest joy of architecture comes from taking the challenges and limitations of a situation, and celebrating them as the character and vitality of the project. This basement conversion in my parents’ home was no exception, and the confined constraints of the existing structure were matched only by the potential of the context and space. With the advantage of acting as both designer and builder, I was able to take full advantage of the limited scope to breathe custom refinement into every quirk and facet of the new abode to make a truly unique experience.
