ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) Construction has been gaining traction in many urban environments where shifting culture supports meeting densification demands through unconventional development strategies. In studying this movement's applicability in Boston, I was initially drawn to the potential afforded in leveraging the sectional opportunities of new construction to capitalize on this zeitgeist with the creation of distinct user spaces, maximizing privacy and outdoor programmatic space. Honing this system further, I developed a vocabulary of overlapping efficiencies for intervention potential that specifically address the various impacts arising in dense neighborhood fabrics that may preclude more conventional construction.
Then More stuff!
